Study on the local tourist organization plan for the territory of the Doubs Horloger Regional Natural Park

As part of the "Resort Contract" system and the Future Mountains Plan, a complementary study on the organization of tourism in the region was launched in early 2023. Its aim is to take stock of current operations and define a relevant and shared organizational project to serve the tourism development of the Doubs Horloger Regional Natural Park. The aim is therefore to construct a realistic governance scenario, adapted to the realities of the region and shared by its stakeholders.

Territorial marketing study: Watchmaking Destination

The PNR du Doubs Horloger has identified, through the tourist diagnosis of its station contract, a marketing positioning issue within the Montagnes du Jura. The park bears in its name a strong identity marker of the territory: watchmaking. In more than one way, watchmaking is an essential component of the identity of our region and the territory, through its history and the quality of its know-how. Thus, a study was initiated at the beginning of 2023, with the aim of highlighting local know-how, particularly in the field of watchmaking and to propose an action plan aimed at promoting the destination.

Study on belvederes

The Doubs Horloger Regional Natural Park (PNR) has conducted a tourism strategy study within a "resort contract" framework. The diagnostic section of this study highlights remarkable, varied, numerous, and well-distributed landscapes and sites, also scattered throughout the territory around the Doubs and Dessoubre valleys, with nearly 90 locations identified, developed or not, sites to be "re"discovered by visitors and residents. A study on this theme is currently being conducted to, through around fifteen sites, create a staging around a common thread linked to time and tell the story of the Regional Natural Park in its components and its natural, environmental, ecological, or cultural riches. Themes specific to each viewpoint have been identified to enrich the story. The purpose of this project is to propose a qualitative and identity-based development for each of the sites.

Tourism commissions

Park Value Brand

The Doubs Horloger Regional Natural Park has rolled out the "Park Values" label, initially among tourism service providers, accommodation providers, and restaurants. This distinction recognizes the work, commitment, and values of those who embrace a more local and responsible tourism model, harmoniously reconciling ecological, economic, and social aspects. The tourist office is involved in audit visits and the award committee.

Collaboration with EPCI

Participation in tourism commissions

As specified in Article 3.2 of the 2022-2025 target agreement, the tourist office must assert its advisory role with elected officials. Thus, the tourist office participates in the tourism committees of the EPCI and the PNR, to which it is invited.

Participation in tourism development projects

The tourist office is also regularly consulted on EPCI projects relating to tourism development, such as the CCPM for the Combe St-Pierre mountain bike study and the water trails.

Editions of city maps, hiking and mountain biking trails and Nordic maps

The tourist office is responsible for inventory management and distribution of hiking, mountain biking, Nordic trail maps, and city maps. It also provides input on how to improve these resources.

Other various collaborations

Guest Rooms Reference

The Chambres d'hôtes référence® qualification has recently been rolled out in the Doubs region by Doubs Tourisme, which involves tourist offices in this process. As such, the tourist office participates in audit visits as well as the qualification awarding committee.

External requests

The tourist office is present at events of tourism institutions at regional and departmental level (Regional Tourism Committee, Montagnes du Jura, Doubs Tourism…).

Also, requests are very varied from the different associations and institutions (Epage Doubs Dessoubre, Conservatoire d'espaces naturels de Franche-Comté, schools, MFR, etc.). The tourist office strives to be present through the representation of the management or a member of the board of directors.

The tourist office may also be asked to participate in various events, surveys, etc., whenever possible. Here is an example:

The Tour de Romandie took place on Thursday, April 27, 2023, starting in the city of Morteau and arrival city La Chaux-de-Fonds in Switzerland. At the request of Mr Bole, mayor of Morteau, the tourist office attended the Copil meetings and organized a promotional stand on Morteau as well as in La Chaux-de-Fonds.
French side at Morteau, the tourist office offered a "souvenir photo" activity and a collection of "confidences from locals". In partnership with Klaus and Rième Boissons, we offered tastings of caramels, lemonades and syrups as a complement at the destination's stand. On the Swiss side in La Chaux-de-Fonds, a tasting of lemonades and syrups was also offered with the support and partnership of Rième Boissons. The team, almost entirely, as well as several volunteers were mobilized all day Thursday.
