Consolation, nature and heritage

Source of the Dessoubre, a river which then flows through the valley to Saint-Hippolyte, the Cirque de Consolation is a completely unique place to discover.

Called "circus" because of its semi-circular cliff shape, the site welcomes an impressive waterfall after bad weather, as well as multiple resurgences of water throughout the site. It becomes a little more timid in summer, but its omnipresence does not detract from the beauty of the site.

This magnificent natural site very early on inspired the men who founded a monastery of the Minims order in the 17th century. The buildings, a legacy of this religious past, are still present. The church is often open and can be visited freely.
